Trish Ray k4ze Visits the Elites Bringing UFO’s!

It was so good hearing Trish on with the Elites last night. As far as I know, it has been a long time.

Received well by all the Elite regulars, Trish stayed and chatted for a little over an hour. Since she lives in Tennessee, she must have stayed up very late, or gotten up really early. She is another night person though…

I thought she added greatly to the Elites’ configuration. Hope she comes back often!

HamFanz is 4 Years Old!!!

Actually, HamFanz has gone through several name changes during the years, but the 'mission' of the site, to bring Hams & SWL together is still its function. And the final nom de plume fits perfectly...

HamFanz REALLY began with the Yahoo Group, 3840 on April 20th 2003. The HamFanz Grudge Report made its debut as a blog on 8.6.05. But the .com site formally went up on 4.1.04, (April Fool's Day, of course!) so that is the 'date' formally celebrated!

Just for the fun of it, here is one of the first messages in 3840YahooGroups.com:

"Good Job Evvy, I just added a few things to it... This might be the place to go to if the "Main Site" in Utah has problems. I guess we can do a Conference Chat in here ???"

HamFanz was initially 'born' when Karen Larrimore w6asa (now w6zx), Patricia Ray (now k4ze), and I spent night after night in the MidnightHams Chat room. After being 'admonished' and 'kicked' several times, then banned, we started our own Yahoo Group, which at that time, had a chat also.

Now Trish has her ticket (and her music) and you don't hear her on air much anymore (she started as a SWL also). Karen has moved on to Charles, and is seldom on air (or at least on the frequencies Karen used to hang out on). And I am left doing HamFanz by myself.

And a BIG THANKS to all who have taken part, making the 'hobby' so MUCH more fun for all!!!

Trish Ray k4ze, a 'SWL turned ham, 3840 used to be', composes and sings. She even sells her own CD's on her site, or at least she did at one time. I can't seem to find her page at the moment; she updates her sites so often even the search engines can't keep up with her!

Bill Crowell w6wbj, can't sing, but he does not let that stop him! He really belts 'em out when he's in the mood, or has something to say. (Wonder what he sounds like in the shower? ) Not only that, but he can play that piano! And work with music on many levels.

I, on the other hand, can not sing. I can not carry a tune in the proverbial hand basket! I may not have the 'broadcasting voice' that art bell w6obb, n7js, ki6gu, or wg6k, have -- but I have a great deal of experience with 'literary readings' and poetry.

It was something that was fated to happen someday, and today is that day! A melding of great talents if you will. So for your enjoyment, MONEY, by Bill Crowell & evvy garrett...

Jim’s Tuner n7js, two weeks and counting!

It has been over two weeks now since Jim’s tuner went down. There is no ‘update’ on his site http://www.jimandleah.com/ about the status of the Icom R-75’s repairs, or an approximate date when the site will again be functional.

Jim has not even posted to his private blog http://jimandleah.blogspot.com/ since Jan. 2007! Not a word on it about the Icom.

And what’s with Trish k4ze? On her blog http://patriciaray.blogspot.com/ she’s quoting the bible and talking about death! She is no longer streaming audio on her site http://patriciaray.net/index.html. Her latest interest seems to be videos. Jeeze...

But I digress, some SWL’s have been reduced to listening to artie’s w6obb, Pahrump Receiver; and about all that can be said about that is, it is better than nothing, and it may be better than Coast to Coast AM.

Others have actually ‘fallen back’ to the poorly edited, old ‘clips’ on SWL (or Ham stalker?) Sawyer’s audio page at: http://3840aa.com/index.php, or to the better collection of recordings to be found at http://www.archive.org/details/3840_HOM_Radio . Since Jim’s Tuner is ‘down’ neither of these sites has any recent recording posted.

For those who are flush, I would like to remind you of http://www.dxtuners.com/ , way back when it was free, and I am talking YEARS ago, I listened there almost every night. If you are really going nutso, it is a viable, if expensive, option.

Something that has surprised me is the lack of ‘streamers’. I would have thought that the egos that like to ‘perform’ for an audience most would have jumped in with temporary (or permanent?) streams, if not actual tuners. In fact, with the ‘squabbling’ going on amongst the ‘groups’ now, I would have thought that each group would have their own web sites with dedicated streams, hit counters, forums, and chats, to see who got the largest share of the audience.
Then again, perhaps this is just part of the death of amateur radio, and you all have just fallen apart (in many ways) since the departure of artie from the air, just as he suggested you would.

Is Trish Ray k4ze at it again!

Is still another ‘flip flop’ in the making? Trish has been heard briefly a couple of times lately, talking with some of the Little People on 3.765.

Then her site www.livehamcams.com is down; it has been for the last few days. Her personal site www.patriciaray.net is up and running, though there does not seem to be any new content, and the link to www.livehamcams.com from her main site, does not work, you just get a 404.

Her Blog ‘Ham Radio News And Views, Thoughts And Opinions’ at http://patriciaray.blogspot.com/ has not had a new entry since February 7th 2007, and that was a rewrite of a prior entry. (Come on you HAM bloggers, you gotta keep up!)

Has Trish gone on another vacation to Jerusalem without telling us, has she given up on Amateur Radio, is she suffering a depression (seems to be a lot of that going around), or are ‘other’ changes in the works?

Given the standing, Trish has (used to have?) among HAMS, I am somewhat surprised that no one has made note of any of this.

A Review of 3840Hams.Net

Started in December of 2006, when Trish Ray k4ze, found that Bill Crowell w6wbj, had posted offensive pics that some even considered porn, on her livehamcams site, and she took it down, 3840Hams.net is a poor duplicate of what used to be...

Indeed, 3840Hams.net, as its name claims, does seem to be run by SOME (but not many!) of the Hams who hang on 3.840, specifically Steve Wingate k6txh, who apparently is the site owner and has it hosted by Suddenlink, and Bill Crowell w6wbj. (Interesting in that neither of these Hams are known to be team players.) Bill Houlne wb6bnq, told me on the telephone, shortly after the page appeared that he monitored the freebie chat by CoolWeb Toys.

All of the above is evidenced, even after three months of existence, by the total lack of imagination in the sites physical set up. There is NO content, per se; just a bunch of links to well knows audios, and 9 picture slots.

The links are mostly links that can be found on most Ham sites ie qrz, lightening map, etc. Then there are numerous links to audio, mostly Bill Crowell’s parody songs (most which have been around the block a few times), and to archive pages. The links I tried all worked.

Of the 9 picture slots (compared to over 20 on www.hamcams.com), ONE seems to get changed often, Bill Crowell’s, (usually with some very unfunny Photoshopped stuff) and the rest get updated sometimes, and now there are pictures there that haven’t been changed in a couple of weeks. (A complaint these guys voiced often about other sites. Guess Steve, Billy, and Bill are finding web site management a little more complex than they first thought. Continuing on the subject of pictures, during the past three months, Trish Ray k4ze has posed a legitimate and interesting question many times and in several venues; “Why isn’t Billy w6wbj, posting his filthy, socially unacceptable pictures to 3840Ham.net site? He does not want to get his (current) ham pals in deep do-do, but it was great fun to jeopardize Trish Ray’s site? (Wild animals in heat have more ethics than some of this bunch! My comment.)

After the picture slots on 3840Ham.net, is the CoolWeb Toys chat. I was banned from this chat early on, supposedly for ‘advertising’ The HamFanz Grudge Report! (Or so Bill Houlne wb6bnq, told me.) Though mainly I posted was that a NEW HamFanz Grudge Report was available, the title, and the url. (The fun thing is that the few remaining people that chat there often mention both The HamFanz Grudge Report and its url!).

Apparently, a LOT of folks have been banned from the chat on 3840Ham.net. The main posters remaining are: Tex O’Halloran, k6pic, Sailbad the Sinner, Bill Crowell (under various personas), and ki6bgi. You will seldom see any others there. A recent (last Sunday) sample of the scintillating conversation:

I am talked about frequently, parodied, made fun of, often on the 3840Ham.net chat. These particular Hams, it would seem, can only take on someone that is not present, someone they KNOW cannot be present (on air or in a chat) to fight back! Big men, these! As of this date, the counter on 3840Ham.net registers 19,931 hits; since the site has only been up not quite 3 months, I can only conclude that either the hits have been padded, or that Steve and Billy like to go look at their own handiwork often, kind of a mental masterbation.

Most others would not go there often, as 3840Hams.net is at best childish, uninformative, stale, graphically inept, discriminatory (women, SWL’s), a ‘copy’ of www.livehamcams.com, and often offensive! It absolutely has NO CLASS. Don't bother with it; it is just another ‘good ole boys’ club! 3840Hams.net seems to reflect its creators, eh? (Hey folks, this ONE deserves a DONATION!)

Are negotiations for reconciliation on?

Still one more BCW list rift! They are at it again! At each other's throats that is! The ‘morally superior’ are going for the jugular of their ‘list mates’. A new rash of ‘banning’ or folks leaving the list is in the offing, even though Ben Gardner kd7bcw, has vowed to himself not to remove anyone from the BCW list (He’s already banned or forced so many folks to leave that who is left?).

On the BCW list, Orv Dalton k6uey, has accused Ben Gardner kd7bcw, of giving Billy w6wbj, the chance to take the pulpit and preach to the masses! Ben accuses Orv of being a sidewalk supervisor. (Boy, it that isn’t the pot calling the kettle black!)

In my humble opinion Ben, Orv, and others of the ‘morally superior’ of 3678 have NEVER heard the phrase, Mind Your Own Business (MYOB), not to mention ‘live and let live’. They take everyone to task; try over and over, to make ALL take their ‘suggestions’ on how to behave and with whom, and on what frequencies, except themselves! Just ask Trish Ray k4ze, their latest ‘victim’ (Perhaps the ‘poster’ victim of the HAM world! The victim’s victim.).

This newest BCW schism came about because on air, the night of Jan. 21, 2007, Ben Gardner kd7bcw, Dave Jolley nz7j, Moody Law wq6i, and others visited 3.840. (Trish k4ze even chimed in to make it known she was there.) Now that Art Bell w6obb, is back and has purchased radio equipment but has NOT upgraded his license, artie can not join his ‘cult of the loop’ worshipers on 3.678 – so the ‘morally superior’ have a small problem.

The Hams that hang out on 3.840 are not saints, for sure they are sinners, but at least they know it. Anarchy reigns on 3.840, anything goes (especially as pertains to mocking and/or reporting on artie’s antics to the point of BORING), including changing loyalties, and much back stabbing. No apologies accepted or offered! Indeed, I’d like to see some basic civility inserted. But the fact remains, that the HAMS on 3.840 do NOT try to make everyone conform to their behavioral demands.

The delegation of the ‘morally superior’ actually talked to Bill Crowell w6wbj, Jim Watson ki6gu, and others. The conversation topic: is reconciliation possible? Of course, no middle ground was found; but the negotiations have been opened, and the ‘background’ in-fighting has begun...

I told you Trish Ray k4ze would...

I didn’t know exactly HOW she would RE-ACT to the recent fued with Bill Crowell w6wbj, but I knew she would; if in doubt, go back and check out the article titled, FLIP FLOP OR THE LATEST IN THE TRISH K4ZE SAGA, dated 11.21.06.

My guess would have been that she’d return to 3.765 begging forgiveness as she seems to need a group or person to hang her personality on. And she might yet!

It didn’t actually occur to me that she’d delete her site, change her email, and ride off into the sunset. However, knowing Trish for years, I should have thought of that. Isn’t that what most Drama Queens (of either sex) do, take their toys and go home? I wonder who she thinks she’s punishing. Certainly not me!

And a Drama Queen she is (just re-read her 'notice' of closure of her site!); remember this is the person that was so obsessed at one time with Art Bell w6obb, that she spent big bucks to travel to the Pahrump compound from Tennessee. When she went home, she bought radio equipment, strung a loop, and got a license! (Remember k4obb?).

Over the years, Trish has 'floated' though all the 3.840 venues and groups: BCW List, Fantastic Forum, Midnight Hams, Jim's Tuner Chat, HamFanz & others. Though I think, Trish was pretty much accepted everywhere she went, including the 3.840, and 3.765 frequencies, none of them were HER 'cup of tea'.

I think she didn't 'fit' anywhere because her interest wasn't really in radio, (or in any part of - though I think she 'played' a good game of pretending) but in Art Bell, w6obb. A telling sign of this is that when I spoke to her on air recently (a phone patch), she didn't even want to acknowledge that she'd once been a SWL, and a founding member of HAMFANZ. She kept sidestepping the topic whenever I tried to give her in public, her rightful dues. Perhaps, she refused to talk about it, because for her, that was a different person, a different persona.

My thought is that Trish really has developed no reality based 'holding' interest in HAM or HAM activity with Art Bell gone. Perhaps a few days, or weeks, away from ‘the group’ will clue her in that she’s made acquaintances, friends, and enemies in Shortwave, and she’ll start to miss them.

So I say, like I have about artie, Trish will be back, in one personality or another!

12.3.06 ADDENDUM 1:

Trish, at the moment, has decided NOT to sell http://www.livehamcams.com/ ! This morning it is 'up' with a brief 'Holiday Message' on it.

Perhaps, even less than 48 hours after having her temper tantrum, hissy fit, or whatever you want to call it, she's having second thoughts. Or has come to realize that she is hurting no one but herself?!


12.3.06 ADDENDUM 2:

Trish has now added (seems she changes it every hour) an extended Diatribe on http://www.livehamcams.com/ which blames everyone but herself! Never once does she mention that SHE could have handled the situation with Billy better, or that SHE could be better at administrating her site!

Flip Flop Or the Latest in the Trish k4ze, Saga

Admittedly, Trish k4ze has a long history of changing sides dramatically and often. She has a tendency to change allegiance more often than some of those grungy old HAMS change socks. And mostly, even knowing of this ‘womanly’ habit, we don’t usually see it coming. But I wonder, if this time, Trish is giving us some signs of still one more change of allegiance?

The other night, she spent some time on 3.765 with some of the ‘Little People’. She even recorded this and for a couple of days this recording was available on her web site, http://www.livehamcams.com/.

Now this is really a complicated and multi-sided issue as:

1) Some are truly tired of Trish ‘switching’ sides at the drop of a hat.
2) Some don’t understand WHY she’d even want to visit, even for a few minutes on 3.765.
3) Some are unaware of her history (hell, sometimes SHE is unaware of her history!)
4) Some are expecting another ‘switch’, whatever that might entail.
5) Some could care less.

But, this time, I do have an opinion and observations on this (surprise, surprise) to that goal, let me recap:

Trish k4ze left ‘the little people’ on all their various frequencies to escape the ‘little dictators’, and there are many among that former Lord of the Loop (Art Bell w60bb) group.

At first, being newly licensed, Trish accepted being told by the ‘Little People’ what to do; which frequencies, and ‘approved’ HAMS, she could ‘associate’ with, both on and off the radio. Soon however, she balked at being bossed around as a condition of her acceptance in the group. Lastly, she tried to diplomatically instill some sense of ‘freedom of choice’ into the ‘little dictators’, without any luck.

Then came the day when the ‘little dictators’ chastised her publicly and privately, for content she had put ON HER PRIVAT WEB SITE! There was some thought that she should have first gotten ‘permission’ to post whatever it was!

That was it for Trish; she told all the ‘little dictators’ off and left in a huff to re-join what was left of the 3.840 group. She was welcomed with open arms, though she had to listen to many an ‘I told you so’. Trish settled into the 3.840 group whole-heartedly. And she tried; she truly tried, to be open-minded and accept the craziness that is now rampant on 3.840.

It didn’t take long though, before the honeymoon was over. In the first place, Trish likes to interact with other HAMS (aduh!); and these days it’s hard to find anyone on 3.840. And what HAMS are there are almost never there before 12AM PT, whereas in prior years, there were often people on air from 9 – 10 PM. Now, poor Trish often found herself with no one to talk too, a terrible thing to do to ANY woman!

The honeymoon was barely over, and Trish hadn’t even been kissed, before one of the HAMS that frequent 3.840, Bill Crowell w6wbj, fucked her up but good.

Bill Crowell w6wbj, deliberately put her in a lose-lose situation by posting socially unacceptable material on her http://www.livehamcams.com/ . Material she was OBLIGED, just by current standards of common decency, to remove (I have seen the images-I can’t believe he did that).

When she removed the material, in typical Bill Crowell w6wbj fashion, he claimed that if he couldn’t do exactly what he wanted to do ON HER WEB SITE, then he wanted to be totally removed. What else could she do? She honored his request and removed him.

This leaves Trish in an uncomfortable situation on 3.840, there aren’t many there to talk to anyway. Is it any wonder she wandered down the band, before midnight, and had a pleasant conversation with the ‘little people’ there?

Oh My! What IS a girl to do??? Well, we will all have to wait to see what Trish is going to do next. But no doubt, it will be both interesting and entertaining...

Around and ‘round they go on 3.840

Last night was what SWL is really all about, a bunch of people showing us their all! All the silliness, accusations, paranoia, personality defects, unrealistic expectations, and disappointments in each other ad nauseam! Far better than years worth of ‘Days of our Lives’!

Bill Crowell w6wbj apparently posted a pic to www.livehamcams.com that Trish k4ze, (the owner of the site), felt was inappropriate to post. She not only removed the pic, but blocked his slot.

Billy took unsubtle umbrage and requested to either have his ‘slot’ removed from the page, or to leave the current pic Trish posted of him at about age 16 up forever. At the time, she honored his request to remove his slot. Then she demanded an apology from Billy w6wbj. (For what, I’m not quiet sure; I never got that straight in my head. Because he posted a pic many would find offensive but there were no rules against?)

After this, emails (to which I’m not privy as Billy, for whatever reason, dropped me from his private email list a few weeks ago) and phone calls went back and forth; the usual drill.

And it got worse from there with Billy w6wbj citing artistic license, and Trish claiming she needed to protect her website. And by the way, I was unaware that www.livehamcams.com HAD any RULES. Wasn’t that why it was started in the first place, to escape the repression and censorship of www.HamCams.com ?

Trish k4ze might find it in her best interest to MAKE & POST some basic ‘rules’. I know I eventually had too, (though I disliked doing so – but kids will be kids, spoiling the fun for everyone else.) with all the HamFanz endeavors. Yes, some raged for awhile, but eventually...

On the other hand, it’s a known fact that Billy w6wbj, does NOT play well with the other kids. Many of the Hams have legitimately come to hate him (or so they say) such as Art Bell w6obb, and Big Ben kd7bcw. I don’t have enough fingers to count the numbers of groups, sites, he’s been kicked from. And when he isn’t tossed (like from HamFanz), he left the group quietly, whimpering that there were too many contentious and or just plain stupid folks there! (In other words, people that might disagree with him.)

Without much enthusiasm, having both been there and done that in many like situations, both the Rev n7js, and Gu ki6gu, got involved in the ‘critique’ of the situation – which went on to include Billy’s personality and life-style.

Gu ki6gu, and the Rev n7js, went on and on about how everyone would make a big deal out of this latest 3.840 disagreement for weeks or even months, that people were listening and recording. You know what? I don’t think so; someone else will do something stupid far sooner than that!

Late in the game Bill wb6bnq, entered, perhaps the only participant with a sense of humor (albeit a supercilious one) about it all.

The game closer was when Billy w6wbj, got back on air after listening to all of the above, and accused ki6gu and the others of picking on him. Oh my!

So, there was still one more big hassle on 3.840 last night. Blogs, Blogs, and more Blogs!

I am delighted to report that two of the Hams, now have Blogs! In fact, I am so happy about this that I have now included a link section on THIS blog for HAM Bloggers. If you are a HAM, SWL, and are Blogging, please send me the link, and I will evaluate it for inclusion (and most of you know that I am pretty liberal!).

Trish k4ze has been Blogging for awhile now; as far as I could determine, the first entry was in January 2006. As is like Trish, the page is a little ‘overdone’ and ‘busy’, but that does not take away from the content. And, at first, she was a little wordy, but she’s getting much more succinct now. My only complaint was that I could not add her rss feed to my homepage. You can find a link to her Blog at: http://patriciaray.net/index1.html

Do sign up for The GRUDGE Report below!). Lastly, remember that people will be READING what YOU write.

For sure, I will be reading these new Blogs from time to time. I will watch them either develop or fizzle. There are at least two people now in the HAMFANZ community, who will soon realize that putting out The Grudge Report in Blog form for the last two and a half years, maintaining a good readership, and getting responses, is not quiet as easy and simple as it seems!

Delilah!!! (Oh My! )

I was listening, almost intently, as the HAMS on 3.840 last night walked Trish k4ze, through exactly what she needed/wanted in a transceiver.

Glenn kn6z was particularly helpful, though I have no natural interest in the speed of light, etc, I was listening and learning from him (It's so nice to have a legit professor on air - but doesn't the guy have a pic more current than 1998 to put on QRZ?)

When Trish was finally able to articulate what, exactly, she wanted, there was a moment of utter silence. But the HAMS on air, accepted her answer with aplomb.

Trish wants a Transceiver that will make her SOUND LIKE Delilah!!!!

The on-air Hams treated her gently, and went off to Google Delilah (Click on link above to find what we all found.). Only Sue k7so, had what may have amounted to some sarcasm in her voice. Me? I was falling off my chair laughing! And, oh yea, I want a mirror that makes me LOOK like I'm a size 12...

The Proof is in the Pudding (Results)

Apparently, night before last, 9.8.05, there was a long, deep, animated, and sometimes heated discussion on 3.840 regarding the recent disaster of hurricane Katrina. It would seem that all the ‘regulars’ had an opinion (of course, don’t we all!).

The only problem with this was that there were NO ARCHIVED RECORDINGS of this, no doubt, collectable event. Even artie w60bb does not have any recordings! He said that: in order for the recordings that are made (by s-meter) and replayed the next day to be saved, artie himself has to notify s-meter BEFORE 8pm. That is BEFORE anyone knows if there’s going to be a ‘need’ for such a record to be archived! (Guess the highly touted s-meter does have its flaws.)

And, let's face it, even if artie HAD recordings, he'd only share them with 'the loop cult' and then only after he'd edited them!

Last night, there was much on air moaning and groaning by various HAMS who’d missed the most recent fun and games. They wanted to listen to recordings of the conversation. It was pointed out (as if we all didn’t already know this) by artie, that anyone could have listened to the replays during the day today had they wanted.

But this again assumes, that a person WOULD KNOW that they wanted to hear something, and would be home and not sleeping, working, or whatever ‘ing’ they might be involved in at the exact time of the replay. They’d also have to be AT their computer, and manage to get back on the tuner (missing how much of the replay?) every hour as they were bounced off.

I know I’d sure like to hear that conversation! Last night on air it was reported that: Jim Watson ki6gu, insulted Trish. That Trish k4ze, went away ‘mad’ (Trish, was it worth all you’ve gone through?). That Moody wq6i, thought the whole event ‘magnified’ (My word, not his – but since I don’t have a recording, I have to go on memory, which is admittedly poor.). This is ALL second and third hand info, as I didn’t hear it myself and again, have no recordings.

Since I am obviously not a HAM, therefore not a member of the 'cult of the loop', I do not have access to the few hour-long segments, that some HAMS did record. If you have one of these segments, please email to me at HamFans@cox.net !

Lastly, this is all totally nuts!!!
-Stop that 1 hr kick off on the Pahrump Tuner, at least till some other ‘streaming’ tuners are online.
-Why can’t artie put up a second, non s-meter, ‘streaming’ tuner?
-Why can’t s-meter ASSIGN 10 slots just for designated streamers, that wouldn’t be ‘kicked’???
-Offer to help Jim n7js, with his HamStreams project (Jim, can I be of help?)
-If you are in a position to stream, get it up and going!
-If 3840HamFans can help in any way with these projects, please let me know.

Imitation and Flattery

That old axiom may be true. And I certainly think that Trish Ray, k4obb is trying to 'copy' 3840HamFans, but I am not flattered!

For one thing, why does she have to 'depend' on everyone else for ideas: her call, her web site (NOT k4obb - which is a spoof hosted by 3840HamFans), even her antenna? Can she not come up with some original ideas of her own???

If not, then I sure wish Trish k4obb would learn how to build a decent looking web site!

Her site is such a conglomeration of redundant stuff, including programs she wants you to download in order to see/hear things, that it's a real pain. Then there's the mis-mash of colors, styles, fonts, outdated graphics and bad placement, that it's almost embarrassing to view.

If I were any of the 3840 Hams, I don't think I'd be promoting this disaster of a site!

ki4dvf to k4obb to k4ze

Trish is changing her vanity call once more, this time to k4ze. And, it would seem, she has already purchased k4ze.com, or so she told Big Ben. Indeed, if you click on www.k4ze.com you currently end up at www.HamCams.com

Now you might wonder why this .com thing is so important to Trish, as she now has www. patriciaray.net, a perfectly acceptable site where she can post her ‘odes’ and ‘cow’ items. (However, she must be feeling ‘one step behind’ as someone even beat her to the punch with patriciaray.com, but it’s for sale at $495. Jeeze, bet the owner of k4oob.com would sell it to her for less than the owner of patriciaray.com is asking!)

Trish must still own ki4dvf, that web site now whisks you away to arties audio stream on s-meter. Wouldn’t you think she’d direct it towards HER own site? And what about all the music that was on that site, where is it now? (Trish has learned to ‘point’!)

But I digress. It seems that Trish also told Big Ben that she HAS to change her vanity call again because she wasn’t able to obtain k4obb.com. Right. Why don’t ya just tell ‘em Trish, that changing your mind IS a woman’s prerogative and let it go at that. It might even go over better.

Trish also stated on air, again to Big Ben, that w6obb.com was available. I think not…

Trish k4obb, has learned how to SUCK UP big time!

Well, I can't believe it, and YOU won't either!!!

It took till now for me to get off the floor where I was laughing hysterically, to get to the keyboard to write this GRUDGE.

Although it's composition is not credited to anyone; 'name of author withheld by request', since it IS on Trish's, k4obb, page, I have to assume that SHE is the author...

I won't EVEN go into the poetics of the 'poem' other than to give the definition of "ODE: A lyric poem of some length, usually of a serious or meditative nature and having an elevated style and formal stanzaic structure." This info is EASILY available, you'd have thought she'd have at least checked this out first. Sigh. An 'ode' this tripe is not...

Now I can understand anyone getting fully involved in their hobby, especially if they are new to it. I can even understand looking up to others in the hobby; those that have helped them, gotten them involved, etc. "Ode to w6obb's receiver" goes far beyond.

Surely does look like Trish, k4obb, has completed the initiation rights required to join the 'cult of the loop'. She's obviously not only learned CW, but the needed 'suck up to artie' talents...

Heaven help us, I can only hope she doesn't really believe all that crap!!!

Trish - k4obb, says in her audio clip on her web site, that k4obb was her second choice for a vanity call. But her first choice, isn't even available till July 2005.

So, in essence, her choice for a vanity call WAS k4obb!

I've gotta say, I do not understand this. Why would she want to copy, emulate, flatter, Art Bell? Or embarrass him, step on his toes? Whichever the case may be.

Whatever her reasons, I haven't stopped laughing since I heard this news. (I needed a good laugh!)

Big Ben - kd7bcw, said on air last night 'what a hoot' when talking about her new call. Art - w6obb replied, 'if that's what you want to call it'. (I think I'd call it obsessive.)

Tonight, Melba Mac - w7lw, said he was disappointed. He thought Trish should have applied for the vanity, k4lw!

Too bad calls like k4nutso aren't assigned. Amateur Radio would be so much more fun...

On the other hand, this might just be a trend starting. What if all the 'followers of the loop' got similar vanity calls? If all their calls ended in obb??? Now THAT would be a hoot!

Still one more Worshiper at the Temple of the Loop?

Trish - ki4dvf was on 3840 last night: with Big Ben - kd7bcw and artie - w60bb, for the first time ever!!! I just heard about this from someone else tonight.

I'm thrilled Trish got her Extra license; I know for a fact that she's been working hard for a long time to achieve this goal.

But am wondering WHY she didn't tell her cyber-friends? Why she didn't send out an email or drop into messenger to let us know she'd taken the test and passed? That she was gonna do her first transmit, get on air last night???

Also, apparently she's 'upgraded' her equipment considerably from just a couple of weeks ago; she has a 1600 loop!!! And has gotten an amp!!! And she never told us!

Is she a hot shot HAM now? Too good for the rest of us? (The 'us' she was a big part of for years!)

Hmmm. Has Trish crossed that line (it's looking that way!). Is she back on the bcw list? I know she's 'back' in with Big Ben, she's said as much. Her first HamCams pic was posted by Big Ben just recently. So Trish made 'the right side' of artie there; must have pleased her greatly. (Hmm, she didn't tell us about that either.)

Which means, she's not far from cozying up to artie. (Which may have been her goal since the beginning, consciously or sub-consciously - remember the trip to Pahrump???) Probably not far from being invited back to the Mental Hens.

It's amazing to me how quickly some people forget being stabbed in the back! How soon they return for more. And how many of 'em do this just to be able to 'rub shoulders' with a celebrity??? How very sad!

And if so, what must artie think of such people??? I would hope he'd take pity on those with such 'empty' lives. Or does he suck it up like a kid does cotton candy; enjoying every bite of it, and looking for more?

And, no, I am not jealous of Trish; her license, her loop, her amp. I am disappointed that she's turned out to be just one more 'fair-weather' friend. I think I've run into this MORE in HAM radio circles than I have anywhere else, at least the 3840 circle. (And, over the years, I've also made some very good friends; that I am loyal to, and are loyal to me.)

BUT, I'm getting tired of encouraging these folks; spending HOURS on messenger or on the phone, listening to their hysterics, soothing their hurt feelings. Or just being there as they rant over perceived wrongs. Of supporting them in their endeavors, only to get the cold shoulder when they achieve their own goals.

I didn't record last night, so I don't have a copy of it for 'history'. And actually, perhaps that's better; I'm funny that way, I REMEMBER how people have treated ME...

Congrats, Trish!

Last weekend, Trish - ki4dvf passed her 'General' test!!!! Trish is a long-time friend of mine, and I'm just tickled 'pink' at her success!

Now she's studying for her Extra, which she expects to take (and pass) soon. In her spare time, she's working on her Antenna and Rig!

Won't be long before she's on air with the BIG BOYS. And I can't wait! A woman HAM. A REAL woman who has a husband, cooks dinner, and visits her mother, is gonna be on air!!!

Take my word for it, Trish is gonna be able to fry the bacon with one hand, and tune with the other, AND she has the room for a giant loop, if she wants one!

I personally KNOW that she's been working hard on this every step of the way. (And I've tried my best to encourage her.) She became seriously interested on getting on air about a year ago AFTER her fateful (and painful) trip to Pahrump! (Just as I decided, as a SWL, to add a woman's 'two cents' to the 'group' via the net!).

Then (like myself), the Hens and the BCW list banned her (Stupid people! Wonder if they're gonna want her BACK now???). All this (after the pain of it), just fueled her DETERMINATION, and look where she IS now!!!

Hopefully, soon, we'll be hearing a feminine voice among the masculine. And a woman's point of view on all the issues. And a woman's hand to 'rock the cradle' of all those 'baby' male egos currently on air! And finally, some estrogen to freshen the 'locker room' air!

Move over guys! Make room for the women!!! We gotcha covered!
