Short Attention Span Saturday Night

Was a blast, a real and viable alternative to the Coast-to-Coast AM broadcast. It really was fun, for those on air (3.740), and for those listening. I listened for a couple of hours, pre-midnight, and enjoyed every minute of it. (Then I caught Stan and others later on 3.840...in an entirely different type of venue.)

Fun defined as: little if any, profanity, no character assignation, little talk of audio or antennas, interesting topics, scintiling verbiage (Stan Karascewski wg6k), drama, (Tony’s rising blood pressure and OO probs), NOT a mention (or seldom a mention) of Art Bell w6obb, a working phone patch with callers, NO jammers, and all of it backed up with real entertainment in the form of ‘personal expression’.

The ‘personal expression’ came in a variety of ragtime and other favs by Bill Thompson n6nwx, who is pretty darn good on the 88’s, and he even took ‘requests’!

My only complaint with The Short Attention Span Network (which has recently changed frequencies to 3.740 from 3.815), and it is not a new one, I have mentioned it before in the HamFanz Grudge Report, is that their attention span is sooo short they forget to ID, and I often do not recognize all the ‘players’!

If you are looking for some good, adult, earlier in the evening SWL, do check out the Short Attention Span Network on 3.740, especially on Saturday night, it would seem.

Evvy, I think somebody needs to tell you that you're pretty damned transparent! Look, nobody in his right mind enjoys listening to Stan and Tony, so give up trying to convince us that you do already! We know what you're trying to do. You're just mad at us 3840 guys because we point out what a fucked-up bitch you are, so you're trying to get our goat by saying you enjoy listening to Stan and Tony more than you do to us Misfits on 3840. No freakin' way!! You're going to have to try harder than THAT to convince us that you're serious, or to tweak us! I WOULD say "nice try" though, but it wasn't even. That was a pretty lame attempt. But look, since you obviously ENJOY being a mean bitch, why don't you just get real and admit that you are one? There's no need to keep pretending that you're a nice person! Everybody knows that's just a pose! So let Evvy BE Evvy, and let all that meanness hang out, baby!

Uh, actually, I'm NOT in my 'right mind', (whatever THAT is), and a LOT of folks like listening to Stan's group!

It looks like I did, huh?

I never claimed to be otherwise. Indeed, am proud of being a Bitch. Got my credentials chewing up and spitting out jerks like you!

bill....i think you got a attitude problem that reflects how you judge yourself. you seem to be pissed at everyone and blame everyone for your problems, so you take it out attacking others for saying how they feel about something, which is what this country is all about. you do remember freedom of speech and expression ? i too listen to stan and friends when i can hear them, and i find them relaxing to listen too....no attacks on others, just a friendly conversation that at times dwells on technical items, and the same old attacks night after nite which get boring at times. too bad you dont have a life.

As I was reading this week's Grudge Report I was waiting for the punchline.

When I read "little if any, profanity, no character assignation", NOT a mention (or seldom a mention) of Art Bell w6obb, a working phone patch with callers, and NO jammers", I thought how boring!

A I read further I saw there wasn't a punchline.
Evvy actually though this was entertainment. I am saddened by what passes for entertainment these days. If this was all there was on the ham bands, I would stop listening.

With the dropping of the morse code requirement, I hope we can encourage more people to become hams and spread the true principles of the radio art such as profanity, character assignation, derogatory talk of Art Bell, and jamming.
