World’s Biggest Jammer w6wbj May be in a Jam
Hot off the wire! In an FCC Enforcement letter dated 9.20.06, copy to be found at the ARRL enforcement page, Bill Crowell is notified of intended action.
Bill Crowell w6wbj is, informed that because of complaints against his station, (n6ayj), alleging deliberate interference, the renewal of his license will be reviewed in a hearing to be held before an Administrative Law Judge in Washington, DC.
So perhaps old Billie was NOT out getting buff on his bicycle, as he’s claimed, but spending all his extra time preparing legal briefs and arguments? We’ve all seen how good he is at doing that, legendary even.
Wonder if he will actually have to go to Washington, DC, or if it will all be done via phone or video conferencing. Sure hope he’s going to seek permission to audio/video record that hearing so that we can all share. Though, as with any hearing, a personal appearance makes more of an impression.
On the other hand, knowing how SLOW the feds are to get anything done, we may all be over 80 before such a hearing takes place, or before there is a decision resulting from that hearing. Not to mention appeals, which I’m sure Billie is preparing as I write this Grudge Report. Anyone looking for Billie to lose his license anytime soon, is probably day dreaming...
However, March 12, 2007 looms closer every day though (the date n6ayj’s license expires), hearing or no hearing. And if his license isn’t renewed, will Bill Crowell walk away from shortwave radio as he claims he will do? (To the cheering from many a HAM, no doubt.)
I have heard Billie state on air, that all he has to do is go back to n6ayj, that it’s the vanity call w6wbj that is in question. This enforcement letter doesn’t ‘read’ that way to me; but then I’m not a lawyer.
This may be an interesting ‘game’ to watch. It was good when it was Crowell vs Hollingsworth. Surely it will be even better when it is Crowell vs the Feds.

Hi, Evvy, and thanks for the article. In answer to some of your questions: (1) yes, I really HAVE been riding my bike all the time, not worrying about or working on my renewal case. Would you like to see a picture of my buffed self? I don't want you to get too sexually excited, though, so let me know if that's a problem. Also, I found that as I got more and more buffed, I kept having more and more women coming onto me, and I am now faced with a surfeit of love [although it is a problem I can deal with!] It ain't too easy keeping all these women sexually satisfied when you're my age, but I'm trying! That is where I've really been on the nights when I'm not on the air. The women really love the endurance, stamina and tumesence that I have gained from my long, hard bike rides. (2) I am participating in the renewal proceedings on the assumption that they are going to be substantially fair and unbiased, and that the ALJ will readily recognize the factual and logical shortcomings of Mr. Hollingsworth's case. I have been around courts long enough to know that if you want a court to DO justice, you must participate in its proceedings from a respectful position and assume that it WILL do justice. And if you're wrong, and it turns out that the court does NOT do justice, then you simply appeal. So that is what I am doing. Although I do not think Mr. Hollingsworth's case makes any sense [it is fundamentally flawed, logically and factually, and I think he knows it], I am treating him with respect, which is more than I can say he's doing toward me. One of the ways he's betraying his own insecurity about the case is that he's refusing to voluntarily provide information about what he claims I've done wrong, as he is required to do, so I am being forced to compel him to provide the information. I learned a long time ago that if your case is strong, you announce it to the world; but if it's weak, you avoid disclosing its weak points to the other side. So if he has such a strong case, why won't he tell me what he claims I did wrong? He acts like it's some big secret or something, and he's going to try to spring it on me at the time of the hearing and take me by surprise. Why is that necessary?
I really believe that, if he really pursues this case to a hearing, Mr. Hollingsworth is going to seriously damage his own cause by making some law that he really is not going to like, and that he would have been much better off if he understood that "discretion is the better part of valor".
So I guess the task of vindicating my fellow amateurs' rights is going to fall to me again. It sure would be nice if my fellow hams appreciated how I have protected their rights in the past, but I guess that's just too much to expect from a bunch of idiots like the average ham. (For example, back in my 2000 proceedings, I stopped Hollingsworth from using the re-test procedure to harass amateurs he didn't like, and I make him stop requiring amateurs to "respond" to his non-existent charges as part of the "fishing expeditions" that he likes to conduct. Of course, virtually no hams have enough intelligence or insight to understand how my efforts have benefitted them, so it's something of a thankless task.)
OK, bye. That's all for now. And let me know if you want that picture of Buffed Billy. I just don't want it to drive you crazy with sexual desire, that's all.

Ahhh, Billie...
Your insecurities are showing!

Glad u liked! (Now SEND MONEY! Or HamFanz is going to have to borrow to keep it all going.)
>>>All I can says is if Bill's license is not renewed and he walks away from shortwave, I will do the same.
Are u a licensed HAM Freddie? Interested readers want to know!
(btw, I'm SURE there are others that share your sentiments.)
>>>First the FCC goes after Steve and now Bill. Is Jim next?
Hmmm, sounds like a title for a future Grudge to me!

Gee, Evvy, first you tell me you want me to tell you honestly why I haven't been on the air too much, and then what I do what you ask, you accuse me of being insecure! I give up. I don't like to play "no-win" games. I'm going back to work on my Sterba curtain. Billy the Bill Collector
