Gracious LittlePeeps

Last night, the Little Peeps were extremely gracious as artie w6obb, and Stan wg6k invaded their frequency; especially Glen kn6z. and Moody wq6i.

Stan wg6k moves around the bands often, to see whats going on, and seems comfortable everywhere. But artie w6obb? Abandon the Elites? I smell a 'rat'...

Here's a great clip of artie saying something I am sure he 'choked' on:

As usual, the full unedited recordings are on the now HamFanz FREE Secret Page!

Greg Sousa w6ezv, Spreading his Wings

In recent weeks, Greg w6ezv, has been heard on The Short Attention Span Network. But last night, he not only got on with The Little Peeps, but when questioned why he was there, he replied, and it sounded truthful to me.

There was then an absolutely GREAT discussion about Art Bell and the Elites by ag7g, wq6i, kn6z, w6ezv and others.

If you did not get to listen, you can find it at (for a couple of days only!): http://www.hamfanz.com/AudioClips/Clips.html

Where's my Barney?

I do not listen to the Little Peeps on 3.688 often enough to know how often a Barney is given. Though if you check out The Little People’s log at: http://members.cox.net/kn6z/littlepeoplelog.htm you will get all the ‘rules’ (and view the nifty grids).

Neither do I know how one gets to be in the ‘Barney Hall of Fame’.

Barney Hall of Fame: Ben KD7BCW, Eric W7ZCX, John W6FE, Cary KD7KAU, Mike VA7MJS, Mike KB1UM, Duane AG7G, Joe KO6M, Bruce W6RAT, Terry KB5B, Chuck KE3KR, Moody WQ6I, Bob AF6D, Mike AA8KB, Conrad N7EN, Randy KC7ZNA, Gary ZL3SV, Mark K6FEJ, Mark K6MJD, Larry W5HO, John K7PRS, Gregg AE6FN, RoboLon KE7BBX, Dave WA6DAC, Bruce N6THN, Gary W6FH, Kevin K7TST, Art W6OBB, Kevin AD8Q, Iain K6IAM, Bob K6MIT, and Tom W7PD.

I do not even know if there is a picture (or trophy?) of The Barney Award.

I do know that Glen Thurman kn6z, has taken an unfocused ‘loose’ bunch of ABANDONED Hams and turned them into a cohesive group. He consistently and graciously puts in a great deal of work keeping it all together for the Little Peeps.

Some call them boring, but the conversations are far ranging and carried on in a polite and socially acceptable manner. They cover such topics as astronomy, WARFA doings, and current events as well as the mundane.
But, the BURNING ISSUE here is, are there ever going to be ‘Honorary Barneys’?
(And what the hey is the plural of this use of Barney, anyways???) If so, where and how would one apply?

You can hear for yourself, this week’s listing of ‘Barneys’”

Artie w6obb, on air soon?

With the purchase of a NEW Icom 7800 (approx. $2200!), a new Yeasu, and the buying back of his Amp from Moody Law wq6i, one can't help but wonder when we will be hearing the now, not so smooth and mellow, voice of Art Bell w6obb, on air.

(Jeeze, wonder if he purchased a new Icom R75 for me while he was at it? I hardly have ANY toys! Should I be watching for that brown truck?)

At any rate, you just KNOW artie 'can hear you' now!

And on what frequency will artie make his appearance? Having that 'Advanced' License prevents him from joining the 'Extra's' where they've set up shop in recent months. Wonder if he's 'upgraded'?

The more than eight months artie w6obb, has been gone from the short wave frequencies, has seen MANY changes; realignments of friends and acquaintances, others taking on leadership roles, some dropping out, even new folks that have said "artie who?" Will artie 'fit' himself into the current terrain, or will he insist that the 'Cult of the Loop' close up ranks and follow him?

One thing for sure, artie w6obb, certainly keeps us all entertained, one way or another!

Resolutions THEY should Make!

I resolve….

k4ze, Tennessee Trish, – to accept my OWN voice and diction, and be proud of it!
kd7bcw, Big Ben, – to find somewhere else to put my heart other than my sleeve!
kd7kau, Carey, – to stop saying that I’ll be back, cause I won’t.
kg6thx, SteveO, – to stay ON that wagon! That’s all I’m gonna say about that.
ki6gu, Burbank Jim, – to buy & read Etiquette for Dummies by Sue Fox, just for fun!
kn6z, Glen, – to find something ELSE to take pics of!
ks7o, Sue, – to read: Antenna Theory & Design by Robert Elliott
n5mza , Timmie, – to find something to do AWAY from the radio!
n6ayj, Billie the Vile, – to stop defecating in my own back yard.
n7js, Utah Jim, – to learn to rock the boat when I think it’s needed.
w6ezv, Greg the goon, – go to anger management classes and never threaten anyone again!
w6mku, Joanne – to remain always haughty.!
w6obb , artie, – to stop being so bossy, or un-retire, or both!
w7mag, Paul, – to put in writing what’s acceptable or not on HamCams.
w7lw, Melba Mac, – to send a few of those extra cow pies to some 3840 extra HAMS.
wq6i, Moody, – to intervene with sanity and a soothing voice instead of slinking away.

The Proof is in the Pudding (Results)

Apparently, night before last, 9.8.05, there was a long, deep, animated, and sometimes heated discussion on 3.840 regarding the recent disaster of hurricane Katrina. It would seem that all the ‘regulars’ had an opinion (of course, don’t we all!).

The only problem with this was that there were NO ARCHIVED RECORDINGS of this, no doubt, collectable event. Even artie w60bb does not have any recordings! He said that: in order for the recordings that are made (by s-meter) and replayed the next day to be saved, artie himself has to notify s-meter BEFORE 8pm. That is BEFORE anyone knows if there’s going to be a ‘need’ for such a record to be archived! (Guess the highly touted s-meter does have its flaws.)

And, let's face it, even if artie HAD recordings, he'd only share them with 'the loop cult' and then only after he'd edited them!

Last night, there was much on air moaning and groaning by various HAMS who’d missed the most recent fun and games. They wanted to listen to recordings of the conversation. It was pointed out (as if we all didn’t already know this) by artie, that anyone could have listened to the replays during the day today had they wanted.

But this again assumes, that a person WOULD KNOW that they wanted to hear something, and would be home and not sleeping, working, or whatever ‘ing’ they might be involved in at the exact time of the replay. They’d also have to be AT their computer, and manage to get back on the tuner (missing how much of the replay?) every hour as they were bounced off.

I know I’d sure like to hear that conversation! Last night on air it was reported that: Jim Watson ki6gu, insulted Trish. That Trish k4ze, went away ‘mad’ (Trish, was it worth all you’ve gone through?). That Moody wq6i, thought the whole event ‘magnified’ (My word, not his – but since I don’t have a recording, I have to go on memory, which is admittedly poor.). This is ALL second and third hand info, as I didn’t hear it myself and again, have no recordings.

Since I am obviously not a HAM, therefore not a member of the 'cult of the loop', I do not have access to the few hour-long segments, that some HAMS did record. If you have one of these segments, please email to me at HamFans@cox.net !

Lastly, this is all totally nuts!!!
-Stop that 1 hr kick off on the Pahrump Tuner, at least till some other ‘streaming’ tuners are online.
-Why can’t artie put up a second, non s-meter, ‘streaming’ tuner?
-Why can’t s-meter ASSIGN 10 slots just for designated streamers, that wouldn’t be ‘kicked’???
-Offer to help Jim n7js, with his HamStreams project (Jim, can I be of help?)
-If you are in a position to stream, get it up and going!
-If 3840HamFans can help in any way with these projects, please let me know.
